My current Work In Progress is Vogue 7862.
I love the bag because I think it would be very practical, since it keeps your hands free, and I love the separate pockets in the straps for your cell phone and keys.
I tried to make this as a gift, mixing the petite-sized strap and the larger bag. Overall, I like how it came out, with the exception of the invisible zippers. Trying to teach yourself how to install an invisible zipper is much more difficult than I thought it would be. The invisible zipper foot that I bought to go with my invisible zippers just don’t seem to fit my sewing machine (Kenmore 19233). It kept slipping off, and then the needle would jam into it. I actually bent a needle almost 90 degrees.
So I ended up taking the foot off completely, and trying to use my hands to guide the fabric along, which of course was not accurate at all, but I did manage to make some fabulous zigzag stitches while I was trying for a straight stitch. I think my invisible zippers aren’t quite as invisible as they are supposed to be. I guess I will try to find a local class to teach me the right way to sew them.
There are some great pattern reviews on Sewing Pattern Review, which is why I made my zipper in the body of the bag horizontal, and not vertical as the pattern calls for.
I think I’ll keep this bag for myself and try a neater one to give as a gift, especially now that I figured out how to line the bag, I’ll try to line the strap pockets better as well.
