Here’s the apron I made from Simplicity 4987:
I made a few small alterations to View A. I didn’t think the apron was thick enough to just use one piece of fabric and bias tape binding on the edges, so I used a piece of fabric on the back to make it reversible, and skipped the bias tape. The pattern also calls for lace trim, but I figured my fabric was too busy for any trim. I made the size Medium so it would be more versatile if someone else was using it to grill in the back yard. I think the Medium would fit most people. Hopefully I will start cooking more often now that I have an apron!
Here’s a really good website for aprons, Tie One On, with a flickr group to display the current apron theme that readers submit. Maybe someday I’ll participate by sending in an apron. The current Apron Theme is “Rick-Rack”.
